SPA/MF Ordinance No. 827, published on May 22, established the rules and conditions for obtaining authorization for the commercial exploitation of sports betting and online gambling in Brazil by private economic agents throughout the national territory.
Kaizen Gaming, operator of the Betano brand, has already filed its process by submitting the request for authorization to the SPA via the Betting Management System (SIGAP), presenting the application on behalf of Kaizen Gaming Brasil.
With this, and according to information from the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA), the company is guaranteed that authorization will be granted by December 31, 2024, as this is the deadline established for companies that submit their requests by August 20 this year.
Kaizen Gaming Brasil Ltda. was incorporated on June 14, 2022 with Cesar Roberto Ramos Junior as legal representative and shareholder Kaizen Gaming Holding Limited, based in Malta.
Kaizen Gaming is one of the largest global sports betting and online gaming operators. It owns the online sports betting and gaming brand Betano, with an established presence and millions of customers in the European and Latin American markets, and has recently entered Africa and North America with launches in Nigeria and Ontario respectively. The company employs more than 2,500 people worldwide.
Betano's principle is to implement corporate responsibility measures, including promoting responsible gambling and combating match-fixing in sport.
In Brazil, Betano is a member of the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming, in addition to having joined Conar (National Advertising Self-Regulation Council) to treat advertising responsibly.
Since April this year, Betano has had an agreement with the Brazilian Football Confederation and became the owner of the naming rights for the Brazilian Football Championship. It also holds the same ownership in the Copa do Brasil and is the master sponsor of Atlético-MG.
