Simone Vicentini leaves Finance Ministry’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting

Simone Vicentini, who had been holding the position of deputy secretary at the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance, has just left the position. In mid-February, she was appointed to lead, albeit on an interim basis, the regulatory process for the sports betting and online gaming sector. With the appointment of the position holder, Régis Dudena, the market was already expecting some movement in the body's structure.

Before working as deputy secretary at SPA, Vicentini was general coordinator of lotteries and her appointment was a direct recommendation from the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa.

During the short period in which he led the Secretariat, Vicentini organized the team and launched the ordinance that enabled testing and certification laboratories for betting systems, live gaming studios and online games.

Furthermore, she led the edition of the ordinance that established the Regulatory Policy and Regulatory Agenda of the Prizes and Betting Secretariat.

Since the beginning of her career at the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, Vicentini had been declaring the important moment Brazil was going through in defining clear rules for the betting and online gaming segment.

For her, the decision to regulate the sector was the right one because it is a relevant segment for the economy, both from the point of view of tax justice and in the implementation of responsible gaming policies and guaranteeing the rights of bettors.

When saying goodbye to her position on her social networks, Simone Vicentini declares:

“I can only thank you for the extensive learning and all the work carried out so far, and especially to José Francisco Manssur, who I thank for the generosity of entrusting me with this work that we have carried out together since the beginning, and to the entire SPA team, so dedicated and competent, to whom I wish success in continuing the work.”

“The feeling is of duty fulfilled, and of having contributed in a responsible, ethical, dedicated, democratic and transparent way to the regularization of the betting market in Brazil. Grateful to everyone who was part of this journey!”
