Betfair poll: 8 out of 10 believe Real Madrid will win the Champions League

Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are playing this Saturday (June 1) the 69th UEFA Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, in London. The ‘Merengues’ hold 14 continental titles, while the Germans won just one, in 1996/97. Betfair, a bookmaker specializing in sports data analysis, carried out a poll to find out what Brazilian fans expect from the final.

The survey conducted by Betfair interviewed 200 people, both men and women, on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo on June 29th. Among the respondents, 69% said they would watch the final on television, and 78.5% believe that Real Madrid will be the champion, compared to only 21.5% who favor the German club.

The survey results closely align with the analysis by Betfair's probability experts, one of the largest betting platforms in the world, which suggests that Real Madrid is favored to win with a 72% probability, while Borussia Dortmund has only a 28% chance.

The final promises to be high-scoring, according to Betfair's analysis: there is a 71% chance that the match will have more than three goals, with Vini Jr having a 50% chance of scoring a goal in the final.

Rivaldo: “Real Madrid is the favorite, without a doubt, but Borussia is strong for the title”

"I think Real Madrid is the favorite, without a doubt, but Borussia is strong for the title and has shown that they know how to play this competition, handling tough matches well. We saw this in the two games they played against PSG, winning both semifinal matches. Yes, Real Madrid is the favorite, but I believe Dortmund will be the champion," said Rivaldo in an interview with Betfair.

The 2002/03 Champions League winner with Milan, Rivaldo, praised the ability of coach Carlo Ancelotti, who was his coach during that victory, to create an environment of friendship and trust among his players.

"He is someone who is always present with the players, boosting their morale; he is like a father to them. Ancelotti has done this very well wherever he has been. He definitely treats each of his players like his own children, and as a result, the players give their best on the field for themselves and for the coach, seeing this mutual friendship with the team leader, always managing to bring out the best in each team member," said Rivaldo.

The Betfair ambassador also recalled difficult moments during his career while playing for the Italian club under Ancelotti, when the coach provided emotional and professional support to the five-time champion.
