GMB – What does it mean for Belatra to be increasingly prominent in the Brazilian market?
Andrés Troelsen – Belatra is very excited to be at BiS SiGMA in São Paulo once again. This time, we brought six people, who traveled especially to serve our partners in the region. Belatra made the decision to work very closely with the Brazilian market. For this reason, we are looking for people to work in Brazil and directly serve our customers in the country.
Belatra has 31 years in the land-based gaming industry and started developing online games 10 years ago. We are convinced that the only way to correctly approach the market is by being close to and knowing what players like, in partnership with our customers. They are the ones who give us the opportunity to understand the player.
You said you were going to talk in “portunhol” (mix of Portuguese and Spanish) and that Belatra is hiring Brazilians. Will you develop specific games for Brazil in order to get even closer to this growing market?
Belatra, along with its development team, is already working on this theme to launch games for Brazil. We know that the Brazilian public really likes crash games and finding local themes will help to stay close to the player so that they feel familiar with the images they will find.
So, studying Portuguese and hiring local staff to work in each region of Brazil will help a lot in our operations in the country.
In addition to the team, does Belatra intend to set up a business unit in Brazil?
The first step is to have people in Brazil. We think the market is moving surprisingly. We were at SBC Rio and, now, at BiS SiGMA, in São Paulo, and we were impressed by the country's potential. With this, we should soon have an office in São Paulo. But initially we will have a commercial executive and an account manager, to monitor each client closely.
Brazil is a reality and has a huge future in this industry. The way to keep up with market growth, as a game provider, is with a local presence, of course.
In addition to dealing directly with operators, has Belatra integrated its games with aggregators?
This work has been interesting because the market is getting bigger and bigger. There are many online casinos working in Brazil today and one way to help grow our presence is through aggregators. We are already doing this with a very interesting partnership to deliver Belatra games to operators' customers.
At the same time, we work directly with some partners. These are the two most recommended ways to grow in the market.
Is Brazil a key market for Belatra?
It is the most important market in all of Latin America for the next few years. We have developed a lot in Argentina and Chile, in addition to working in Peru, Colombia and Mexico. But our focus and strategy in the next two years is to grow as much as possible in Brazil.
Belatra was nominated in two categories at the SiGMA Awards. Is it a recognition to the growth of the brand and its products?
We are very grateful to be nominated for “Best Game Provider” and “Best Game” with our title “Mummyland Treasures”. It was a fantastic experience and I think it's a good beginning for us, who started in Brazil recently. This is part of our effort and enthusiasm to grow in Brazil.
