In the second half of April, BMM, a global company specializing in systems that provides consulting and testing on the world's largest gaming networks and systems, received approval to certify betting systems, live gaming studios, and online gaming in Brazil.
Operating for over 40 years, the laboratory was responsible for the first set of independent gaming standards in 1992 and the first set of online gaming standards in 2001.
With over 500 employees across 13 global locations, it serves more than 470 gaming jurisdictions. BMM's global headquarters is located in Las Vegas (USA) with offices in Moncton (Canada), Lima (Peru), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Barcelona (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Krakow (Poland), Bucharest (Romania), Midrand (South Africa), Melbourne and Sydney (Australia), Macau (SAR, China), Singapore, and soon in Brazil.
Previously, BMM had been approved by Lottopar as a certified laboratory to conduct comprehensive testing on platforms, systems, games, and authorized regulations in the state of Paraná.
Now, with approval from the Ministry of Finance, it will operate nationwide in Brazil to conduct tests and certify local operators already in the country and global ones that are either already present or intend to begin their journey in Brazil.
GMB – What does the recent approval from the Ministry of Finance mean for BMM to certify the gaming and online betting sector in Brazil?
Marzia Turrini – I am very pleased with the announcement that we have been approved to certify games in Brazil. BMM is thrilled with this, and we have been waiting for this moment for many years.
From now on, we will get even closer to the operators operating in Brazil and those who want to enter the country. Additionally, we are very proud to be at BiS SiGMA, a fair that demonstrates how incredible this market is.
How will BMM work from now on locally?
We will wait for the Ministry of Finance to publish the technical rules, which are very important and the next necessary step for us to continue helping our clients who want to enter the Brazilian market. Now, many of our clients are already certifying to GLI-33 and GLI-19 standards, to advance. And then, once the technical rules are published, we will perform a gap test, to see the difference between what the basic standard and the Brazilian technical rules is.
Will it be difficult to meet all these requirements that will come from the Ministry of Finance?
Yes, of course. BMM has over 40 years in the gaming industry testing for the sector. So, it's a normal process. Each country has its specifications, its peculiarity, but we are very clear on what steps to take.
But also, at the same time, as we talked about in London, we will open a laboratory and we already have BMM's registered partnership in Brazil. So now the process is to open the laboratory, make sure we have the tests trained for our testers from Spain and the United States, to be 100% close to the market.
Are clients already reaching out to BMM for these next steps?
A lot. The day the license was published by the Ministry of Finance was incredible. On my LinkedIn, everyone was reaching out and exploring the social network, which shows how much attention we drew with the approval from the Ministry of Finance.
Now it's about continuing to work to deliver to our partners exactly what they need and what the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance will require.
