The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) assesses that Normative Instruction 2,191/2024 of the Federal Revenue, which regulated the collection of income tax on prizes from sports betting and online games, partially meets the needs of the market.
The rule established, as ANJL argued, that there will be no IRPF levied on prizes with values below the first tax exemption band, currently at R$2,200.
On the other hand, it established that the charge must be made at source and, also, without taking into account losses incurred in other bets or sessions.
The association reiterates that this type of charge does not follow international practices and has great potential to cause a migration of bettors to unauthorized sites, damaging the effectiveness of sector regulation and frustrating the Union's expectation of revenue.
The best way to collect the tax is through the annual declaration, since this period of time would take into account the bettor's entire trajectory and not just a single bet, argues ANJL.
Launched in March 2023, the ANJL defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by encouraging sport, betting security and contributing to the country's economic development.
