During Afilados and Gaming Brasil, GMB had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with Hiago Piau, CEO of the ‘Segredo da Casas de Apostas’ course. The executive pointed to the arrival of jogo do bicho for this segment as the big news in the sector in 2024.


GMB – What new developments did you see at recent Affiliados and Gaming Brasil event, and what is the importance of this meeting for the iGaming sector?
Hiago Piau – An event like this is of great importance for affiliates because it adds more value and experience, connecting them to what I consider one of the main pillars for anyone who wants to succeed with their betting house. Regardless of the segment having other strategies such as digital, influencers, and paid traffic, affiliates are very important. They are the ones who show up every day and bring strategies and innovations that perhaps the betting house or an agency would not bring.

One interesting thing I saw, which is not new to me, is the theme of lotteries and bets on the jogo do bicho. At this specific event, we have the Bicho no Pix stand, which is one of the most well-known lottery modalities. This ends up being an important novelty for the affiliate who is not yet registered or does not have a public in this niche. If they start in this high-demand niche, they will certainly have a significant advantage over others who have not yet seen this opportunity.

Does this mean that the affiliate market is preparing and improving more and more for the regulated iGaming sector?
Exactly. Every time we talk to industry professionals, we see concerns about regulation, how it will proceed, and what they will have to pay. The biggest concern of the affiliates I talk to is whether it will be possible to continue earning the same as affiliates. Their question is whether the costs that the betting house will have to pay will impact the affiliate's revenue, given the high competition among betting houses.

Besides these aspects, did you see any new developments in terms of technologies and strategies?
Various strategies are being used now. Generally, those who have been successful with them restrict their use to maintain their success. But they are starting to make them available in a way that makes the market more democratic and broader. Anyway, what caught my attention the most was the betting on jogo do bicho.
