Grupo Mineira da Sorte Loteria supports commemoration of 150 years of Italian immigration to Brazil

150 years ago, Italian immigration to Brazil began and Minas Gerais was the third state to receive the most immigrants. To celebrate the date, the Italian Consulate in Belo Horizonte is planning a series of activities. The Grupo Mineira da Sorte Loteria, made up of the gaming giant IGT, will support and develop actions for the events.

The Consulate General of Italy in Belo Horizonte started the festivities for the 150th anniversary of Italian Immigration in Brazil, with special attractions and free activities for the population of Minas Gerais, since February this year.

In June, a month known for the intensification of Italian celebrations due to the ceremony dedicated to the Italian Republic, the attractions are even more special. Until the end of the year, a series of cultural events will also celebrate this important historical milestone.

Today (4) the Consulate will support the pre-opening of the “Wine and Jazz 2024” festival, today, June 4, in Tiradentes, with a performance by Italian singer Cinzia Tedesco, at the Teatro Cultural Yves Alves.

The event is part of the celebrations and the MSL Group (Mineira da Sorte Loteria), made up of the Italian lottery gaming giant IGT, will support and develop actions for the next events promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in Belo Horizonte.

Based in Brazil, Italian Roberto Quattrini, CEO of MSL, says that one of the group's objectives is to stimulate and further strengthen this relationship between the two countries.

“Italians played a fundamental role in Brazil’s economic development. With Raspadinha®, we will be supporting the events celebrating 150 years of immigration in the country and the Festival of the Republic, always encouraging this fruitful union between the two nations,” says Roberto Quattrini.

With a show inspired by the production of Maestro Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), one of Italy's greatest operatic composers, Cinzia will pay tribute to the artist in a Jazz Opera format. Recognized for her originality, the singer mixes tenor and soprano arias, transforming songs already known to the public into a personal and modern interpretation.

Accompanied by Pietro Iodice on drums, Pino Jodice on piano, in addition to the participation of other Brazilian artists, the performance promises to move those present with original melodies and jazz improvisations.

Minas Gerais was the third state to receive the most Italian immigrants in the country. In numbers, it is estimated that around 80 thousand people arrived in the region from 1874 to 1920, according to information from historian Anísio Ciscotto. And in 2024, the more than 30 million descendants of the country of the boot, residing in Brazil, will celebrate 150 years of Italian immigration in the country.
