Sportradar is part of the Match Monitoring Group created for CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™

Global leading firm in sports technology Sportradar is joining the Match Monitoring Group created for CONMEBOL Copa América 2024. The initiative, decided on Tuesday (4), aims to safeguard the integrity of the tournament against the threat of manipulation of results, implementing strategies that promote transparency and equity in South American football.

As part of the South American Football Confederation's commitment to its Clear Rules pillar, the initial meeting of the Match Monitoring Group created for CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 took place on Tuesday, June 4.

Juan Matias Mendez, integrity partnerships manager in Latin America at Sportradar, was the company's representative in this zoom meeting. “CONMEBOL Copa América will have a monitoring group for all matches. It is an excellent initiative and it will be a pleasure to be part of this team to safeguard the integrity of this great tournament that we will all enjoy,” said the executive.

The CONMEBOL CA2024™ Match Monitoring Group reflects interdisciplinary work and cooperation between different international actors such as FIFA, UEFA, Council of Europe, Copenhagen Group, UNODC, FBI, INTERPOL, ULIS, Sportradar, IBIA and Integrity Officers of the Member Associations of CONMEBOL and Concacaf.

In our work at CONMEBOL we have a concrete and permanent objective: to offer the greatest transparency on and off the field. Our mission is to guarantee sporting justice, so that our games and tournaments are attractive and competitive. We are focused on implementing all the tools necessary to achieve these objectives and the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ Match Monitoring Group is part of this vision, which we share with several important allied organizations,” said President Alejandro Domínguez.

The Monitoring Group's aim is to safeguard the integrity of the tournament by acting decisively to detect and resolve any concerns relating to match-fixing, ensuring a fair and entertaining competition for all fans.

Their training is a proactive measure to ensure that each game is played with integrity, thus protecting the essence of sport and promoting the spirit of fair and transparent play.

In this sense, the group's role is to monitor all CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ matches, through risk assessment and analysis of data and information collected, through close and coordinated collaboration.

The CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ will be played in the United States from June 20th to 14th and features ten CONMEBOL teams and six guests from Concacaf. In this edition, this traditional tournament will be organized by the two confederations, as happened in 2016.
