VaideBet terminates US$ 68m master sponsorship contract with Corinthians

VaideBet terminated, this Friday (7), the master sponsorship contract signed with Corinthians at the beginning of this year. Several suspected irregularities had been highlighted regarding the agreement and the sports betting house used its right to end the partnership by activating an anti-corruption clause. Signed in January, it was the biggest in Brazil, with R$360 million (US$ 68m) for three seasons.

Complaints of the use of “figurehead” involving sponsorship negotiations between VaideBet and Corinthians had already been highlighted for around a month. At the end of May, the bookmaker notified the club extrajudicially, asking for explanations about the allegations.

After Corinthians' response, VaideBet judged that the explanations were not sufficient and used its right of termination, without fine, based on a clause in the contract that deals with anti-corruption.

Official Note

VaideBet informs that this Friday (7) it terminated the sponsorship contract with Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. Since the beginning of April, the brand has been monitoring requests for clarification on the suspicions raised, having already held meetings, formal communications and extrajudicial notifications. Faced with presentations without any resolution, VaideBet regrettably finds itself forced to take such an action.

The brand believes that the partnership cannot be maintained as long as there is any suspicion regarding conduct that does not comply with ethics and legal precepts. Just one doubt, in the brand's ethical opinion, is enough to determine the termination - which was exercised by VaideBet, raising clauses in the contract that protect the brand's rights in this decision.

VaideBet regrets the end of a partnership that should have lasted at least three years and thanks the immense and passionate Corinthians fans for their affection and respect, who daily support the history and values of the institution.
