Gambling Roundtable

Caf brought together market leaders to discuss regulation and challenges in the betting sector

To create an environment of networking between professionals in the recent betting industry in Brazil, Caf organized the Gambling Roundtable event last Thursday (18). Heldin São Paulo, the meeting integrated a series of actions and initiatives organized by Caf to facilitate adaptation to the new regulations being implemented. The event brought together market leaders to discuss financial crime prevention and new identity verification technologies.

During the meeting, Vinicius Tsuda and Maíra Lazarini (Caf), Rafael Rebelo (Grupo H2), Fernando Vasconcelos (Rei do Pitaco), and Luiz Santos (Superbet) discussed the stages of regulation, emphasizing the recent SPA/MF Ordinance No. 1,143/2024, which addresses the prevention of financial crimes such as money laundering and terrorist financing.

There was also an exchange of ideas about the challenges faced by platforms, including responsible gaming, user verification methods, issues with multiple accounts, and bonus abuse.

The experts also covered practical aspects of AML-CFT and KYC, as well as the integration of payment platforms and identity verification technologies.

Following this and at the same venue, it was the time of the ‘Caf Talks’, a happy hour focused on leaders in identity, compliance, and fraud prevention.

The event featured the panel “The Different Dynamics of the Infinite Journey,” in which Ivy Macedo Ribeiro (Caf), Patrícia Silveira (Grupo Boticário), Alberto Fiochi (Rappi), Isis Pires (XP Inc.), and Marcelo Sousa (Caf) discussed the challenge of creating a journey that is positive for the user but also effectively prevents fraud.

The moment also included the presence of the Latin American Leadership Academy (LALA), a non-profit institution that shared its initiatives focused on developing leaders in Latin America.

“Meetings like these strengthen the identity verification and fraud prevention market, making digital services and platforms safer for users,” Caf evaluated when describing the event, which did not seek to draw conclusions but rather to bring together experts to exchange opinions and ideas about the current movement of the sector with the arrival of ordinances from the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance.
