Sílvio Santos registers domain “TeleSena.Bet” and could launch another sports betting brand

The Silvio Santos group is about to enter the sports betting market in Brazil, just waiting for the regulations to be finalized. The information was released last week by columnist Lauro Jardim, from O Globo. Two internet domain registrations, 'Baú Bet' and 'Tele Sena Bet', appeared in the name of SS's holding company and a brother of the businessman, respectively.

Grupo Silvio Santos is a Brazilian holding led by the Brazilian billionaire media-man Silvio Santos. The principal member of the holding is SBT, the second biggest network television in the country. The group also controls the Tele Sena, the Teatro Imprensa, Jequiti, Sisan Empreendimentos and many other investments such as hotels and shopping malls.

After the information was released that the Silvio Santos group intends to enter the world of betting, the Benefícios Hoje team checked the domain registrations and discovered the two possible names for the betting houses. The first one, “Baú Bet”, is already registered by Silvio Santos’ holding company.

The second name, “Tele Sena Bet”, suggests a direct link with Tele Sena, another successful product of the group. This name is registered by Henrique Abravanel, brother of Silvio Santos.

The idea is to merge advertising spaces and create a strong connection between the bookmaker and Tele Sena, although the name is still under debate.

Meanwhile, SBT's legal department analyzes advances in the regulation of betting houses in Brazil. Silvio Santos is eager to use the entire structure of the television channel and related services, such as Baú itself and Tele Sena, to enter the betting market with strength.

Furthermore, intense data crossing work is expected, involving partner companies such as Jequiti. The popularization plan will focus on the image of Silvio Santos, one of the most charismatic and well-known businessmen in Brazil, to attract a large audience.
