Locomotiva Institute and QuestionPro survey

61 million Brazilians consider placing sports bets during the Olympic Games

The Paris Olympics opened last Friday (26), and the games in various modalities are already heating up the movement of sports betting houses. A survey conducted by the Locomotiva Institute and QuestionPro indicates that 61 million Brazilians consider placing bets during the event.

Four out of every 10 Brazilians consider placing bets during the Olympic Games, which represents 61 million Brazilians. This was the result of a survey conducted by the Locomotiva Institute and QuestionPro.

Between June 24 and July 8, the Institute interviewed 1,491 people over 18 years old, of both sexes, to verify their intention to bet or not on the Olympic Games.

The result was that four out of ten respondents admitted that they will place bets during Paris 2024. Among men, 47% consider taking a chance on predictions during the Games, while 33% of women are willing to bet.

The result shows that 61 million Brazilians consider betting during the Paris Olympic Games, a surprising number, especially at a time when the betting segment is still undergoing its regulatory process.

Sports betting has grown substantially since its legalization in 2018. Driven mainly by soccer, it has been expanding its spaces and winning over passionate audiences for other sports as well.

Therefore, the result of the survey is not surprising and the trend is that the Olympic Games will further expand bettors' perception of other sports.

During the Olympics, more than 10,500 athletes will compete for medals in 48 sports, with thousands of markets already being offered by the main betting houses operating in Brazil, including those focused on individual and team results. Football, volleyball and basketball are the most popular, but athletics is already gaining ground, as has been achieved by swimming.
