galera.bet organizes forum in São Paulo to discuss betting scenario and relationships with users

Organized by galera.bet, the “1st Forum Awareness and Protection of Online Gaming Bettors” which takes place on July 10th starting at 8:30 am, will be attended by the Secretary of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, Régis Dudena. The meeting will aim to unify the sectors' thinking to generate improvements for bettors and also guarantee greater legal security for ‘bets’, as operators are called in Brazil.

At the forefront of discussions on the betting regulation process, galera.bet will promote the “1st Forum Awareness and Protection of Online Gaming Bettors” next July 10th, starting at 8:30 AM, at the Hilton Morumbi Hotel in the South Zone of São Paulo. The primary goal of the event is to share best practices regarding users and reinforce the understanding of the growing sports betting and online gaming market.

The meeting is expected to gather approximately 60 people, including executives from betting houses ('bets'), as well as the entire ecosystem of the iGaming and online gaming market, such as lawyers from renowned firms active in the sector, representatives from consumer protection companies, and public administration. Highlighted will be the presence of the Secretary of Prizes and Betting from the Ministry of Finance, Régis Dudena.

Other notable contributors to the debate include Paulo Alberto Pereira from the São Paulo Consumer Protection Division; Patricia Cansi, COO of Reclame Aqui; Fabiano Jantalia, partner at Jantalia Advogados; Sérgio Garcia Alves, president of the OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission; and Fernando Capez, jurist and professor, among others.

All in the same direction

In recent weeks, the way influencers promote the game Fortune Tiger game, using a demo version of the app— that allows winning amounts during short videos posted on social media—has been a topic of media discussion and is expected to be one of the subjects that will stir up the panels.

"We have actively participated in the regulation process, and many of the issues we've seen are due to poor communication, misinformation, or even criminally misleading information from some companies and influencers, who lead people to believe that the game's goal is to make money, to get rich, which it is not. It is entertainment and fun," says Marcos Sabiá, CEO of galera.bet.

According to the executive, good understanding and solid guidelines can help, for instance, the National Council for Self-Regulation in Advertising (Conar) to oversee ads that mislead people in a wrongful or criminal manner, and ensure that bets follow acceptable paths in advertising conduct and in dealing with bettors on their platforms.

Divided into three panels—moderated by Marcos Sabiá—the forum will discuss topics such as 'Conflict Mediation with Consumers,' 'Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Consumer Protection,' and 'The Role of Public Administration in Regulating Consumer Relations in Online Betting and Gaming.'

The audience will be able to participate by submitting questions that will be addressed to the panelists through the moderator.

"We notice a necessary leveling of information among the judiciary, public administration bodies, society, and sports betting platforms regarding issues related to electronic gaming and online betting, consumer rights, and the role of companies in this segment. Therefore, our main objective is to promote this alignment of information among these sectors and collaborate in disseminating best practices during this regulatory phase of the sector," concludes Sabiá.
