bet365 applies to Brazil's SPA seeking a license to operate in the country

bet365, one of the world's largest operators of sports betting and online gaming, has officially applied to the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance seeking a license to operate formally in Brazil. Through HS do Brasil (Hillside), its subsidiary in the country, the company is qualified to begin regulated operations as of January 1, 2025.

bet365 is a world-renowned online betting operator. With a customer base of over 90 million worldwide, the platform offers its products in 22 different languages, ensuring seamless accessibility for users across the globe. It also supports transactions in 26 different currencies.

In Brazil, the company has been operating since the legalization of sports betting in 2018 and was waiting for the moment of regulation to formalize its operation in line with the rules of the federal government.

Now, with compliance with the regulatory agenda of publishing all ordinances of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, bet365 has submitted its formal application for a license and is already listed on the Betting Management System (Sigap), awaiting approval of its application to begin regulated operations in Brazil.

bet365 stands out in the global gaming market as one of the largets iGaming operators worldwide offering sports betting options as well as a wide portfolio of online gaming from the main global providers. The company declares itself committed to driving responsible gambling policies.

Last year, Hillside, trading as bet365, was named as one of the largest donors to independent UK charity GambleAware over the last three quarters of the previous year, surpassing the £5m mark.
