Panagiotis Skyrlas, Novibet’s Director of International Expansion, said: “We are very excited to be part of the first group of companies in Brazil to submit an application for a license. Novibet has always been an advocate for regulation and responsible gaming.”
“We have a long history of operating in highly regulated markets and launched our operations in Brazil as soon as we learned of plans to regulate the sector. Submitting our application for a license is an important step on our path to participating in the regulated market.”
The application was made within the initial 90-day period established by the Ministry of Finance’s SPA, ensuring that Novibet is among the priority candidates for licensing, with the expectation of receiving approval by January 1, 2025.
This move comes as Brazil’s online gaming sector prepares for a comprehensive market launch following the publication of the latest regulatory orders.
In total, there are 17 companies registered on the Sigap website: Kaizen (Betano), SuperBet, Rei do Pitaco, Sportingbet, Big Brazil (Caesars Sportsbook), NSX (Betnacional, Mr. Jack and PagBet), KTO, Betsson, galera.bet, F12, SportyBet, EstrelaBet, Reals, Betfair, OIG, HiperBet and, now, Novibet.
