After August 20th, the deadline established by the Ministry, companies will theoretically no longer be able to apply for a license. The registration window remains open, but there is no guarantee that authorization will be issued by the beginning of next year.
The Sigap (Bet Management System), managed by the Ministry of Finance to receive requests, was opened on May 23rd. Until July, only five registrations were made from bets that want to formally operate in Brazil.
This month, as the deadline approaches, 17 requests were made.
The petitions from Betano and Superbet, two of the country's largest sponsors, are already under analysis. This week, Estrelabet, Reals, Betfair, BIG Brazil, galera.bet, and SportyBet are among the companies that entered the Finance's list.
According to the rules established by the National Congress, the companies will have to comply with the obligation to pay a fixed grant of R$30 million (US$5.5m) and allocate 12% of the revenue from bets to the public coffers.
