The 'Galo' seeks better offers

Atlético-MG analyze not renewing master sponsorship with Betano, negotiates with three other ‘bets'

Atlético-MG could not renew its master sponsorship agreement with Betano, which ends at the end of the season. The ‘Galo’ (Rooster, as the club is called) is seeking a contract with higher values and is already negotiating with three other betting companies. The club's goal is to at least match the R$42 million (US$ 7.7m) annual amount paid to Cruzeiro, its classic rival.

The ‘Galo’ has the goal of reaching at least the R$ 42 million (US$ 7.7m) per year paid by Betfair to Cruzeiro. Among the possibilities under analysis are three other betting houses: Parimatch, Superbet and Bet.bet.

Parimatch pays R$27.5 million (US$ 5m) per year to Botafogo, while Superbet invests R$42 million (US$ 7.7m) in Fluminense and R$52 million (US$ 9.5m) in São Paulo. Bet.bet does not yet sponsor Brazilian clubs, but is interested in partnerships in the country.

Raphael Quirino, Marketing Director at Bet.bet, stated that the company is interested in establishing partnerships with major Brazilian clubs and that they are open to talking to all major clubs in Brazil. “It would be great to have a club like Atlético, which has great players, a great fan base, a new stadium, Olympic sports and a women’s soccer team,” he said.

Betano replaced BMG as the main sponsor of Atlético Mineiro's uniform at the beginning of 2021, occupying one of the most prominent spaces. The current contract runs until the end of 2024. Despite the possible departure, the bookmaker will continue to support the club in competitions such as the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil.

Betano is an international bookmaker, recognized for its strong presence in the global sports market. Founded in 2016, the company belongs to the Kaizen Gaming group and operates in several countries in Europe and Latin America.

In addition to sponsoring Atlético Mineiro, Betano supports several prestigious clubs and competitions, such as FC Porto, SL Benfica and Sporting CP in Portugal, and Olympiakos in Greece.
