“Sportingtech is focused on Brazil and hiring locally to drive our growth”

After opening an office in São Paulo, Sportingtech has entered the hiring phase for Brazilian professionals to drive growth in the local market. In an exclusive interview with GMB, sales manager Marina Selmi highlighted that the company is ready for regulation, that it has worked in line with the government’s technical requirements and already has all the certifications required to exceed partners’ expectations.

GMB - 113 companies have submitted their license applications to the SPA of the Ministry of Finance. Obviously, many of them are Sportingtech clients. What are the company's expectations regarding the approval of these applications?
Marina Selmi -
Very high expectations. We have been working to get the platform ready for regulation for a long time and we have very good clients. All of them have applied for a license, so our prospects are excellent.

Is the platform ready, including the tools that involve integrity and responsible gaming?
Yes, we are well ahead in terms of regulation and everything is ready for January so we can start operating in accordance with everything the law requires. We have been working closely with the Data Processing Service (Serpro) and with all the necessary certifications, including GLI. Now, all that is left is to start the regulation.

The company has recently opened an office in Brazil. How is the work going at this new moment for Sportingtech?
It is going very well. We recently opened the office in Vila Lobos (in São Paulo), and we are hiring a lot of people. It is a time in the market when many people are looking to enter the industry, so we have high expectations of having an increasingly larger team in the Brazilian market.

Is this a clear demonstration of your focus on the Brazilian market at the moment?
Exactly. The more Brazilians, the better.

How has Sportingtech been working in its search for partners in the Latin American market? Do you also operate in this area or are you currently focusing only on Brazil?
We already have a roadmap for the coming years and, obviously, we will continue to expand further into Latin America. But for now, we are focusing on Brazil, obviously with the regulations and everything else that is happening. That is why Brazil is our focus, but we certainly have plans for the future to increase our presence throughout Latin America.
