At the meeting, Plínio and Giovanni aligned the next steps for the construction of a cooperation agreement between ANJL and the Secretariat for the prevention and combat of fraud in sporting events in the country.
The president of the association emphasized that, in addition to the honest bettors who are harmed, the bookmakers are the main victims of these manipulation schemes.
“Since its creation, ANJL has reiterated the importance of integrity in the betting market and in sports. We took this message to Secretary Giovanni Rocco, who also understands that it is necessary to eradicate these criminal acts once and for all. We want to work collaboratively with the Ministry of Sports so that, once any suspicions are identified, we can act quickly and effectively to combat this evil,” said Plínio.
Other topics discussed at the meeting were the potential of the betting market in Brazil and the ongoing regulatory process for the sector. As has already been done with the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance, Plínio emphasized that ANJL is available to contribute to discussions and proposals for the benefit of the sector, bettors and Brazilian sports.
Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by the promotion of sports, the security of bets and the contribution to the economic development of the country.
