The seminar “Thinking Together About an Innovative Industry” will be broadcast live by ENV Media and the video will be available on the company’s YouTube channel. The presentations in English and Portuguese will be subtitled and the audience will be able to participate in live questions.
The event aims to discuss the iGaming industry in Brazil in terms of its economic potential on the global stage, encouraging the debate of initiatives that aim to consolidate the sector through transparency, fairness and social responsibility. In addition, through the debate, it is expected to strengthen a network of cooperation between the main actors involved to jointly think about a fairer, more transparent and responsible industry.
A growing industry
Despite its novelty, according to research conducted by ENV Media, the Brazilian iGaming sector is the largest in Latin America and one of the largest regulated markets in the world, with an estimated annual revenue of R$50 billion (US$ 9bn).
Adding up all the gaming segments available in the country - lotteries, sports betting, online casinos, among others - Brazil ranks 5th in the world and is a rapidly growing market. The great popularity of sports betting and lotteries further drives the growth of the sector.
To ensure the sustainable growth of this emerging market, it is necessary to foster debate on topics of public interest, such as responsible gaming practices, in order to ensure that society is informed about the security and prevention policies applied by the sector.
The current scenario of iGaming in Brazil
With the regulation of sports betting and online casinos in 2023, the Brazilian iGaming market is expanding, with 113 national operators registered for licensing by the Ministry of Finance by the end of the first application period on August 20.
These processes have brought significant socioeconomic and cultural consequences for the sector, as ‘Bets’ – as operators are called in Brazil - have been increasingly present on the political agenda and in public debate, often in a negative way.
In this context of image crisis, industry representatives have been mobilizing to demystify misleading and irresponsible reports against the industry, reiterating the importance of regulating the sector and promoting player safety and responsible gaming.
It is in this scenario that the ENV Media Seminar on iGaming takes shape: based on the need to clarify doubts about the industry, reinforce the importance of Responsible Gaming and how regulation is essential. Thus, not only will public policies be needed to inform players and operators, promoting an increasingly safe and transparent environment, but also to mobilize other responsible actors.
