ANJL warns that guardians should not use their personal data to grant access to children and adolescents, which constitutes a punishable crime.
Law 14,790/2023 and Ordinance No. 1,231 of the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance prohibit betting sites from allowing minors under 18 to register, and ANJL has treated this issue as one of its priorities.
At the end of last year, even before the legalization process of the sites, the entity launched the educational campaign “Betting is not a child's thing” on social media, aimed at raising awareness among adults about the prohibition of the use of betting platforms by minors.
“The Association has done its part, creating mechanisms to prevent access by minors. But awareness-raising actions also need to be embraced by those responsible for these people,” argues Plínio Lemos Jorge, president of ANJL.
Plínio points out that illegal websites that still operate in the country pose a threat to children, because access to bets is done without any type of restriction.
“Legalized platforms follow the guidelines imposed by Brazilian legislation. That is why we are able to implement ways to prevent access by minors. In the case of websites that are not authorized to operate in the country, the reality is different. Children are not only able to access without proper registration, but are also encouraged to play,” warns the president of ANJL.
Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by the promotion of sports, the security of bets and the contribution to the country's economic development.
Among its members are Big Brazil, PagBet, Betnacional, Mr. Jack, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Z.ro Bank, Propane, Paag, Clear Sale, BetBox tv, StarsPay, 1xBet and PG Soft.
