“Paag has complete solutions for iGaming in Brazil, with high conversion rates and low friction”

Paag, a major Brazilian BeTech, has complete iGaming tools for a better user experience and customer satisfaction. In an exclusive interview with GMB, CEO João Fraga highlights that the beginning of the regulated market was a bit turbulent, but that now the “tide has calmed down.” According to him, the company has payment, KYC, anti-fraud and authentication solutions focused on the new reality, with high conversion rates and low friction.

GMB - How was the entry into the new regulated Brazilian market and what were the difficulties and hardships at the beginning?
João Fraga
- We already expected and knew that this transition from the unregulated to the regulated market would be a bit turbulent. The deadline that the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) gave to the players was very short. So, there was a bit of turbulence, but I think the tide has calmed down now.

People are already putting things in place, the players are already feeling the volume return. It was a time that, I won't say it was easy, because it wasn't easy for anyone. But things are calming down now, I think people are already understanding the path now, where we are going. Many companies are reorganizing themselves to function well in the regulated market.

Despite the initial challenges, there were significant advances in communication and in companies adapting to the SPA ordinances. The sector is increasingly aligned with government requirements, creating a solid foundation for the future.

Regulation changes a lot of things, but we couldn't be happier that this is happening in Brazil. So, I think it's a very important step that we're taking. Regardless of anything, I think we have to celebrate this moment.

2025 will be a year of positive transformations, with the market seeking greater professionalization and adaptation to regulations. For companies that invest in innovation and agility, it will be a year of opportunities to stand out and consolidate themselves in the sector.

How has Paag's KYC solution positively impacted this moment?
We know that for operators and players, this is a time of friction and tension, because players are not used to sharing documentation, and operators are not used to having such a robust "Know Your Customer" process for validating data.

We understand that this experience has to be the best possible for the player at this moment. There is no point in doing anything just for the sake of it; you will have churn and lose the user. So, what we did was look at this opportunity and we understood that we needed to deliver the best usability for the user and the best conversion rate for customers.

That's what we focused on in the last few months, developing our own technology. We don't use any third-party technology; everything is developed within Paag to offer customization, which I think is the most important thing. There is no point in having a solution that is the same as someone else's; you want something that has your own style, that is within the usability and identity of your system.

We always want to offer the best usability for the customer. So, we developed this solution, and today we have, without a doubt, the best conversion rate on the market, both in KYC and Pix. We focus a lot on offering not just a service, but the best service for our operators.

How do you see companies that mediate payments in the new regulated Brazilian market?
Intermediaries will be even more valued, playing an essential role in the security and efficiency of transactions. Those that demonstrate credibility and regulatory compliance will have a prominent position in the market.

Is it a complete ecosystem for operators, to the benefit of the end user, the bettor?
We always think about what the player wants, what they are looking for and how to make their life easier. Paag started out with a payment solution, but there was a migration from a fintech to a techfin, more focused on technology. Now, we consider ourselves a BetTech, a technology company focused on betting.

We have the entire payment part consolidated, with years of experience in the market, and we are bringing new products, such as KYC, anti-fraud, authentication, everything a betting company needs to operate well in the regulated market, with a high conversion rate and low friction for players and very low churn.

In the coming months, we hope to launch several new products to offer to players. We have a great new product that we will announce at SBC Rio, so I invite everyone to get ready.

At SBC Rio, we will talk about these new products and we hope to talk about them at BiS BiGMA as well.
SBC Rio will be the first opportunity to showcase our innovations. Each trade show is an important moment for us. We create our release calendar focused on these important events. At BiS BiGMA you can be sure that there will be new releases as well.
