GMB- Are you enjoying ICE in Barcelona? It has changed a lot. What did you think?
Valter Delfraro Jr - It was excellent! The fair was just as good as it was before. It seems much bigger and well organized. The sectorization helped a lot, making it easier for visitors to find what they were looking for. I thought it was a very positive change.
What were the biggest challenges GLI encountered in the regulatory process to provide certification to operators?
GLI has extensive experience in this process, with over 35 years of experience and a presence in all jurisdictions where gaming is regulated. However, each new market brings unique challenges. Our role is not to interpret regulations, but to understand them completely.
Although Ordinances 722 and 1207 are aligned with GLI-19 and GLI-33 standards, some additional requirements required a more in-depth understanding.
Whenever there are doubts, we seek clarification directly with the regulator to correctly guide our clients – whether operators, platform or gaming providers – so that they comply with Brazilian requirements. Whenever there is a new market, this is our biggest challenge.
What about operators and platforms? What difficulties did they face in adapting to the new rules?
Those who already had certifications in other jurisdictions or were aligned with GLI-19 and GLI-33 had a head start. But those who started from scratch had more difficulty adapting their platforms.
The most discussed points and those that brought the most challenges were geolocation and facial recognition, which required significant adaptations to meet regulatory requirements and ensure certification.
Does GLI believe that new requirements will still emerge or will the scenario stabilize?
Regulation is an organic and constantly evolving process. The market changes, technology advances, and new requirements will certainly emerge. The regulator will monitor the development of the sector and may make adjustments over time. We do not know when, but it is expected.
What are GLI's plans for the upcoming trade fairs in Brazil? Will you be at SBC Rio and BiS SiGMA São Paulo?
Yes, we will be present at both events and will have a stand at both Brazilian trade fairs. It is essential to be close to our customers, maintain direct contact and support the development of the sector.
