SPA and the Federal Revenue Service create a Working Group to monitor 'Bets' in Brazil

The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) and the Federal Revenue Service created a joint working group to monitor the behavior of the iGaming sector in relation to tax compliance and identify possible illegal activities by unauthorized companies. The GTI-Bets will also subsidize the proposal for a compliance program to regularize tax obligations in relation to the period prior to authorization.

The RFB/SPA Joint Ordinance No. 3 stipulates that the Intersecretarial Working Group will monitor the maintenance of the requirements for the authorization of the so-called 'Bets' and will subsidize possible involvement of unauthorized betting in Brazil with the crime of money laundering and other crimes.

The GTI-Bets will also subsidize the proposal for a compliance program to regularize tax obligations in relation to the period prior to authorization, for authorized betting companies. It will also propose joint action to instruct the repressive inspection work of the Federal Revenue Service's Undersecretary of Inspection and propose the creation of a specific channel for sharing information, within the legal limits of each agency's activities, observing tax confidentiality.

The GTI-Bets will be composed of three members, appointed by the Federal Revenue Service's Undersecretary of Inspection, the Federal Revenue Service's General Coordination of Research and Investigation, and the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting.

The GTI-Bets will be in office for six months, extendable by decision of the secretaries. The group must submit bimonthly reports to the secretariats, in addition to a final conclusive report at the end of the work.
