A founding partner of the Jantalia Advogados law firm, the specialist in Gaming Law and PhD in Law from the University of Brasília (UnB) assumes the leadership of the Committee in a context of intense debates on the future of the sector in Brazil, especially since Laws No. 13,756/2018 and No. 14,790/2023.
The betting market, which moves billions of reais annually, is the focus of attention of the Legislature and regulatory authorities, demanding a close look from the legal profession to ensure legal certainty, transparency, reliability and integrity in operations.
“The Brazilian betting market is going through a crucial moment, because, in addition to the first authorizations having already been issued, beginning the companies’ operations in Brazil, the Ministry of Finance now needs to define its regulatory agenda. We have already scheduled public hearings and consultations. There are many challenges ahead”, says Jantalia.
Under his leadership, the Commission intends to actively participate in debates that interest the sector. “The OAB-DF is an institution that has a firm commitment to improving the legal system and promoting social justice. Our Commission intends to honor this tradition by participating in debates and even conducting studies and research. We want to make our contribution so that the country has a safe, efficient and responsible gaming market,” concludes the new president.
The president of the OAB/DF Gaming Law Committee is a founding partner of the law firm Jantalia Advogados and specializes in Economic Law and Gaming Law. He holds a PhD and Master's degree in Law from the University of Brasília (UnB), an MBA in Finance from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and is a professor of economic law and regulation in postgraduate courses.
In 2017, Jantalia won the Seae/Ministry of Finance Lottery Award in the “lottery regulation” category.
