“A regulated market in Brazil will require a better and more intuitive experience for players”

With the start of the regulated market in Brazil, the stance of bookmakers is undergoing profound changes. To talk a little about the new moment in the sector, GMB exclusively interviewed the CEO of galera.bet, Marcos Sabiá. For him, the government, society and companies cannot do without dialogue so that the player's experience is the best possible, attracting them to an environment of safety and entertainment.

GMB – Following another edition of ICE, this time in Barcelona, and with the start of regulated operations in Brazil, how do you see the beginning of the formal market for galera.bet?
Marcos Sabiá –
First of all, it is a pleasure to meet you, Gildo, and the entire market at ICE Barcelona. This was a process that we all looked forward to. It is a unique moment in Brazil, with the possibility of having a 100% regulated market, with protections for the vulnerable and meeting the demands of robust regulation. This is the result of an intense dialogue between the government, operators and society, creating a legal gaming environment that, in addition to protection, promotes economic development and revenue.

There are many demands and requirements, both for operators and for players, who need to adapt. Regulation is always a dynamic process, an ongoing dialogue between society, government and business, adjusting the environment to attract serious operators and discourage illegality. It is essential that public authorities act to combat illegal operators.

How was the turning point for January 1st, when the regulated market began in Brazil, for galera.bet?
In the case of galera.bet, we spent New Year's Eve at the office, with a dedicated team and even my family went there. Since then, we have experienced the intensity of this new regulation. The days have been intense, with great challenges.

We know that there have been problems with bettor reboarding. Is the market still in the phase of eliminating pain points?
Without a doubt. The market is in the phase of technological adaptation and adjustment, but in weeks or months we will have a stabilized environment. We will not dispense with dialogue with society and the government so that the player's journey and experience is the best possible, attracting them to an environment of safety and entertainment.

And that keeps them away from the gray market?
Without a doubt. The gray market needs to be combated in several ways and with intelligence. This means state enforcement from the point of view of combating illegality and state power so that illegal operators have no space to operate. But also with intelligence to win over the player so that he realizes the advantages of playing in a legal environment. We need to build this environment.

What are galera.bet's plans for customer retention and winning over new users?
With regulation, we are entering a new phase in the market. With the sophistication of the industry, in which only serious companies will operate, we are talking about a time when the relationship with the customer changes levels. Robust platforms and similar technologies will make the relationship with the consumer the competitive differentiator, and not just who has the fastest Pix. The way forward is to build a relationship journey with the consumer that is increasingly better and more intuitive.

At galera.bet, we prioritize the customer experience, with certifications and recognition, such as the GPTW seal and the RA1000 evaluation. This reflects our commitment to offering a personalized and intuitive experience, bringing the platform closer to the reality of the Brazilian player.
