GMB - Brazil started its regulated iGaming operations on January 1st. How is this going for Stake?
Thomas Carvalhaes - Yes, we started with the regulated market and with the licenses effectively issued. For us, it has been a very interesting process, we are very optimistic and confident that this market will continue to grow and mature, as it has in basically all the jurisdictions where we operate, not only in Latin America, but throughout the world.
Were there any difficulties in implementing the regulated operation? How was this transition from one model to another given so many requirements from the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting?
Our focus is to be 100% aligned and in compliance with the regulations. We understand the reasons for the government's ordinances and guidelines, and our role is to comply with them. Obviously, January 1st was a very busy day, just like January 2nd and it continues to be. Yes, we had challenges that we are resolving, such as user experience issues, identity validation (KYC), and bank key validation (Pix). But these are very important issues and are part of the process of obtaining a license. We are working hard to optimize and improve the overall experience.
Speaking of the overall experience, what's next to make bettors' eyes shine at Stake?
Stake is traditionally innovative. Our marketing approach is unique. We have nothing against popular strategies in the betting market, but we seek innovation. Examples such as Formula 1, UFC, Drake and other global partnerships demonstrate this. We are planning something along these lines for Brazil – something innovative, with a strong impact, that reaches our target audience and converts more and more players to our brand.
Are disruptive innovations on the way?
The Brazilian public and our B2B partners can expect some explosive moves from Stake.
Stake has appointed one of the world's best-known Brazilian professionals as country manager and brought Bárbara Teles, a renowned lawyer in the iGaming sector, to the team as legal and compliance director. Is this Stake's focus for Brazil?
Bárbara is a spectacular professional, one of the most influential jurists in the Brazilian market, with a wealth of experience. For us, bringing her to the team was literally a home run. This reaffirms, in a very emphatic way, our commitment to responsible gaming, anti-money laundering policies and a clear, correct and innovative positioning, but always in compliance with government guidelines to continue growing in the right way.
Can Brazilian bettors trust that they are on a safe website that complies with the rules and, in addition, that will offer disruptive actions to captivate them?
Exactly. Stake is here to stay. Stake is Stake. Let's move forward and may 2025 be a year of great takeoff in the Brazilian market. See you at the next fairs, such as SBC Rio de Janeiro and BiS SiGMA, in São Paulo. It will be a pleasure.
