After regulation, Brazil’s betting sector more than doubles reaching 1.7 billion visits in January

The regulation of the sports betting market in Brazil had an immediate and impressive impact: the sector more than doubled in size in terms of the number of visits in the first month of the new legislation. In January 2025, the 100 most popular betting houses in the country registered 1.74 billion visits, according to monitoring by Aposta Legal.

This number, the highest in the historical series that began in 2024, represents a 100% jump compared to December of the previous year, when 883 million hits were recorded.

For the first time, the betting market in Brazil surpassed the one billion mark in a single month.

The previous record was set in October 2024, with 927 million hits, at a time when the regulatory movement was gaining momentum in the country.

At the time, the growth was already evident: September had closed with 877 million, and August, with 806 million.

According to analysts consulted by the report, the growth reflects not only the legal certainty of the regulation, but also the confidence of consumers in a regulated market.

Brazilians spend more time betting than on Google

What is striking is not only the volume of hits, but also the engagement of users. Of the total visits in January, 77% interacted with the pages of the bookmakers or occurred long enough to not be considered inclusion traffic.

In addition, the average time spent by Brazilians on these sites even exceeded that of Google.com, the leader in hits in the country. Industry giants take off with the regulation The largest bookmakers in the country were the ones that benefited the most from the regulation.

The 15 most visited sites accounted for 1.6 billion visits, equivalent to 94% of the total traffic monitored among the top 100.

In the top 5, all of them at least doubled in size in January, with Betano standing out, which recorded a 440% growth in the number of visits.

Mobile phones dominate, and men are the majority

The numbers also reveal other interesting details about the profile of Brazilian bettors. Almost 98% of visits were made by mobile phones and devices, while only 2% came from computers.

In terms of gender, 70% of visits were from men, compared to 30% from women.

Most of the traffic (62%) was direct, that is, users typed the address of the betting houses directly into the browser or accessed through favorites.
