The legalization of the betting sector in Brazil took place in December 2018 during the Michel Temer government. In December 2023, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sanctioned the law that regulates the online betting market. After that, there was a process of creating standards with January 1 of this year representing the official launch of the regulated sports betting and online gaming market in the country.
“We are happy to receive the license permanently, but this is just another step in relation to what we have always fought for and done in favor of regulation. We are aligned with good practices and act responsibly in a market that needs to follow rules, be combative against illegality and use tools developed to promote Responsible Gaming,” said Hans Schleier, COO of Casa de Apostas.
To obtain the license, the company paid a grant in the amount of R$ 30 million (US$5.2m) and complies with a series of established requirements. Among the main ones are the exclusion of credit for online bets, the identification of bettors by CPF (Brazilian individual taxpayer), the control of financial flows, the mandatory facial recognition and the encouragement of responsible gaming.
Casa de Apostas is the first genuinely Brazilian brand in the betting sector, present in the country since 2019. The first company in the segment in Brazil to sponsor national football clubs, the platform also innovated in the sector by acquiring the naming rights of two of the main stadiums in Brazil: Arena Fonte Nova, in a four-season contract, and Arena das Dunas, for five years.
“We operate solidly in Brazil with pioneering practices in the market such as club sponsorship, marketing and relationship campaigns and arena naming,” reinforces the Head of Business at Casa de Apostas, Anderson Nunes.
