GMB - What was your message to those who attended your talk on the challenges of B2B business in iGaming during ICE Barcelona?
Fellipe Fraga - It was great to have the opportunity to talk about business opportunities in Brazil, representing not only EstrelaBet but all the operations underway in the country. The message to the partners who make this business model happen is simple: Brazil is now a different, challenging reality, with different prices and costs, more robust taxes and a well-designed structure that we dream of so much. The business partner needs to be aware of this.
We need to follow a path of tropicalization and look at Brazil with more care, understanding what we can do as a business to be good for both sides, offer a smarter cost and deliver to the customer a complete, regulated, certified and licensed experience. All this so that the business model of the licensed iGaming industry is healthy and growing, something that we hope will last hundreds of years.
How was the change from December 31 to January 1 for EstrelaBet?
It was pure adrenaline. I think it was one of the most delicious champagnes I've ever popped at home on New Year's Eve, celebrating this new reality in Brazil. But it was a lot of work. I'm very grateful to our team, who stayed online, on call, talking the whole time to make everything happen.
Fortunately, Estrela managed to achieve a very positive result in this change. We were surprised by the acceptance of our customers in this change. There will always be friction, a new reality, but we respect the decisions of the Prizes and Betting Secretariat. We are in compliance with everything and we understand that customers are adapting to the new market dynamics. We are optimistic about the coming months, with customers returning to have fun with us in a healthy and responsible way.
The dream now is to attract customers who used to play and had this entertainment option in operations that decided not to stay in Brazil or not to obtain a license. I hope that they will no longer be able to play in unregulated operations and will come to have fun in legalized operations. We work to make EstrelaBet that choice.
What is your message to the government after the start of regulated operations?
We are complying with everything, it was difficult, but we understand this dynamic. What we expect from the government is continuity, open dialogue and willingness to make adjustments. Everyone is learning: operators, providers and the government itself.
Regulated Brazil is something new, but references such as England, Spain, the United States and Peru show that regulations evolve over time. In Brazil, it will be no different. The important thing is to keep an open mind and together build an increasingly better, responsible, healthy and fun scenario for all Brazilians.
