“Oscar” of the sport

BSOP wins the Global Poker Awards

For the second consecutive year, the Brazilian Series Of Poker (BSOP) was nominated among the finalists of the Global Poker Awards, the “Oscar” of the sport. On Saturday night (22), the ceremony was held in Las Vegas and, unlike the edition held in 2024, the largest poker series in Latin America was the big winner in the Best Circuit/Mid Major Series category, which refers to intermediate buy-ins (registration fees).

Representing the circuit were the couple Devanir Campos, co-CEO, and Lara Bruno, COO of BSOP. “What an incredible honor,” began DC in his speech at the ceremony. “First of all, thank you, PokerGo. Thank you, Global Poker Awards for this incredible event! It’s incredible to be here among the great names in our industry.”

Devanir continued his speech. “Being here is incredible. You know the names we work with, like the WPT, WSOP, great tours. So much heritage in the history of poker. It's just unbelievable for us. Poker is part of American culture. We come from a country where poker is not endemic, it's not part of the culture. We started 20 years ago, we had to work hard to make it fun, make people see it as a game of skill and apply some of the good old Latin American spirit.

None of this would be possible without the incredible team we have at BSOP. You are the ones responsible for everything that happens behind the scenes, bringing order to the chaos and ensuring that our thousands of players have an incredible experience. I am honored to have one of the best teams in the universe,” he saluted the team he leads.

And it wouldn't be possible without my good friend and one of our partners here, Igor Trafane, one of the co-founders of BSOP since the beginning; my wonderful friend and co-CEO of BSOP, Rafa Moraes; and the most beautiful and incredible woman on this planet, my wife and COO of BSOP, Lara, I love you. I must thank our sponsor and partner for over a decade, PokerStars. Thank you for believing in us.

Thousands of players have played the BSOP over the years, we have almost 20 years of history. Thank you very much, we do it for you, because you love poker and are passionate, and so are we,” said the circuit representative.

Rafael Moraes, PokerStars ambassador and BSOP co-CEO, was not present at the ceremony, but celebrated on his social media. “What a joy! The BSOP won the Oscar for best Mid/Major poker event in the world! It beat out the Rungood Series, WPT Prime and WSOP Circuit,” and the text continued. “Congratulations to the entire BSOP team. Thank you for giving your all and making it happen. DC and Lara, I love you, thank you for everything! And stay tuned, because there’s much more to come this year.”
