Betsson has been active in the region for over a decade and holds licences in other key markets, including Argentina, Colombia, and Peru.
Commenting on this milestone for Brazil, Pontus Lindwall, President and CEO of Betsson AB, said: “We welcome the introduction of a local regulatory framework in Brazil and are pleased to have obtained a licence.”
“This step aligns with our strategy to grow via geographical expansion, and we look forward to offering Brazilian customers a secure and high-quality gaming experience,” he added.
Betsson operated with a provisional permit, granted to companies that completed the initial phases of the authorization process but were unable to meet all the requirements in time.
Now, the number of companies authorized by the government stands at 79, with 172 brands in operation (each company can operate up to three brands per license).
