Legalized betting sites

The bet.br domain is the 2nd most visited in Brazil and 17th worldwide

Since January 2025, the bet.br domain has become mandatory for betting houses to operate legally in Brazil. In the first month under this regulation, the domain registered 1.7 billion hits, consolidating itself as the second largest source of online traffic in the country, behind only Google, and ranking among the 17 most visited sources in the world.

In Brazil, the traffic of legalized betting houses exceeds the hits to websites of consolidated platforms, such as YouTube (1.2 billion) and Instagram (0.5 billion)

It is also worth noting that access to legal betting sites is 20 times higher than that of LinkedIn, which recorded just over 50 million visits in the first month of the year.

The average time spent on the site is also impressive: Brazilians spent around 13 minutes on betting sites, surpassing the 10 minutes and 47 seconds recorded by Google, the leader in access in Brazil.

Another significant figure is the number of unique devices that accessed a legal betting site in January: 300 million.

This is equivalent to 6 out of every 10 devices (computers, tablets and cell phones) in the country having visited a betting site throughout the month.

‘Bets’ are the second largest source of online traffic in Brazil

The transition of the public to the bet.br domain raised initial doubts, but the data shows massive adoption. In its regulated debut, traffic on betting sites with bet.br surpassed sites on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp in terms of the number of visits.

The average time spent on the site is also impressive: Brazilians spent around 13 minutes on betting sites, surpassing the 10 minutes and 47 seconds recorded by Google, the leader in access in Brazil. Another significant figure is the number of unique devices that accessed a legalized betting house in January: 300 million.

The regulation of the betting sector was decisive for the leap in visibility. In December 2024, betting sites recorded 833 million visits – a number that doubled in one month after the legal change.

Another highlight is the fight against the illegal market. Since October, SPA has requested the blocking of 11,555 irregular websites through Anatel and has intensified its monitoring of digital influencers promoting unlicensed gambling.

In January, 75 inspection actions were carried out, 51 of which were aimed at content creators. In February, 22 investigations were initiated.

Regulated market review

Since the implementation of the regulation, 68 companies have been authorized to operate in the regulated betting market, while another seven have obtained permission via court order. In total, 153 licenses have been granted to brands in the sector. The SPA has already analyzed more than 45 thousand documents and collected R$ 2.1 billion in payments for authorization grants.
