GMB - What did you think of this edition of the SBC Summit Rio?
Nicola Wallbank - It's been very busy, since it's Carnival week. From what I've noticed talking to colleagues and networking at the event, SBC has been growing more and more. It seems like many people are here for the first time, and I believe the event will continue to expand in the coming years.
What innovations did AGS showcase at SBC Summit Rio?
AGS entered the Brazilian market on January 1st, when the regulations were implemented. We brought a substantial catalogue of slots to the market. Over the last few years, we have invested in our own in-house studio, which has been a real game-changer for AGS Interactive.
It took us a while to put together the right team and ensure we had the right people in the right positions to create the best games with the best technology. We are very excited to introduce this content in Brazil, as we believe it will be very well received by players.
How has the company adapted to the new regulations and certifications in the Brazilian market?
We work closely with all jurisdictions and regulatory bodies. We have a strong internal team and good relationships with these entities, which allows us to make quick decisions when we receive new information.
Although there have been some changes and a waiting period to better understand the guidelines, we have been able to adapt quickly without any major delays.
In such a competitive market as Brazil, what products or services from AGS would you highlight?
We are recognized in several jurisdictions, especially in North America, for developing the best Steppers on the market. We are very excited to bring this technology to Brazil.
With the popularity of crash games and the predominant use of Android technology over Apple, we believe that our Steppers will have a big impact on the Brazilian market. The simplicity of the technology makes it easy to accept and the first results are promising.
How does AGS deal with sensitive issues such as responsible gaming, advertising and user protection?
Responsible gaming is a priority for us in all markets where we operate, including Brazil. We continue to work closely with operators and partners to ensure best practices.
If adjustments need to be made that may cause delays, we are prepared to do so. Furthermore, we are accustomed to strict regulations, such as those in the Italian market, and we use this experience to adapt to the new requirements in Brazil.
What major opportunities do you see in the Brazilian market?
As we mentioned, we only entered Brazil in January of this year and are already collaborating with operators such as Superbet, Sportingbet and Kaizen (Betano).
We have a diverse product portfolio and will continue to expand our offerings in the market. We are very excited to be part of this growth and strengthen our presence here.
What do you see as the future of iGaming and sports betting in Brazil?
Brazil is generating a lot of excitement in the industry. I believe the country has the potential to rival the UK, my home country, for the top spot in the global gaming market, but it will certainly be among the top three markets.
We still need to see how taxes will affect operators and the market in general. There will be continued growth, but we may also see some consolidation, with mergers and acquisitions occurring over time.
Will AGS be present at the next event in São Paulo, BiS SiGMA Americas?
We are not yet 100% sure if we will be attending SiGMA, but if we do confirm our presence, we will let everyone know.
