GMB – What did you think of the SBC Summit Rio 2025? Was it your first time?
Rubio Teixeira - It's not our first time, we've been present at all the events. But it's a special pleasure to participate in this event in the first year of the regulated Brazilian market, especially in this wonderful city that is Rio de Janeiro.
What innovations did Octus Legal iGaming bring to the Summit?
It is a bit difficult to specify a single innovation, as we are monitoring the market and the regulatory phase in the country. We started by bringing in large international laboratories, helping the Ministry of Finance (SPA) and the main market players to follow the best international practices and comply with this new scenario in our country.
How has Octus adapted to the new regulations that Brazil has recently incorporated?
There is not much that is new for us, as we already work with the international market and follow the best global practices. We seek to bring this to our clients, serious operators who always seek to be compliant.
Now, our focus is on educating the player, who has spent a long time in an unregulated market, and seeing how this will be perceived within the market. We are trying to follow the best international practices and the operators have received this very positively.
In a market as competitive as Brazil, how does Octus Legal iGaming stand out in relation to the competition? What products and services would you highlight?
We have been in the market for a long time and are familiar with these international practices. Now, large law firms and companies are looking at the regulated market, but we are already structured.
We seek to have competent professionals to meet all needs, offering a 360-degree service to our clients. We recently established a partnership with the Hub Teixeira Advogados law firm to also meet the legal needs of operators.
How do you see the future of the iGaming and sports betting market in Brazil?
It is difficult to predict the future, but I believe that good things are coming, especially with the player in mind. When we have standards and regulations, the scenario improves.
We are awaiting some ordinances and changes in the types of accreditation of technology gaming providers to understand how the market will work. Our goal is to foster the industry as a whole, generating opportunities, business, jobs and contributing to the tax burden that, for a long time, was not collected, aiming at social benefit.
How does Octus Legal iGaming deal with sensitive issues, such as responsible gaming, advertising and user protection?
Our company is already seeking international best practices. We have a team with a DPO (Data Protection Officer) who implements all policies for our clients.
In addition, we rely on partner software to assist in validating the KYC (Know Your Customer) of players, ensuring security for the operator. We are developing software to analyze players with excessive spending, monitoring and preventing possible future problems, always seeking best practices and using technology to meet new market demands.
What are the biggest opportunities in Brazil today for your company?
We are in a very positive scenario, in constant growth. Consolidation is our focus, and we are increasingly establishing ourselves as a reference. Not only me, but my entire company and employees seek to provide excellent service, gaining recognition in the market, which is extremely important for all of us.
