Alexandre Knoploch (PL) responded by criticizing the stance of Yuri Moura's political group regarding the legalization of marijuana, suggesting an inconsistency in their criticism of the project.
The discussion deepened with contributions from other deputies, such as Thiago Gagliasso (PL) and Luiz Paulo (PSD), who debated individual freedom to wager and the comparison between betting companies and other forms of gambling, such as Mega-Sena and ‘jogo do bicho’.
The bill, which received amendments and was removed from the agenda during the session, proposes a broad prohibition that would directly impact the state's football clubs, many of which are sponsored by betting companies.
In the Plenary, the bill received a favorable opinion from the Committee on Economy, Industry, and Commerce, as well as the Committee on Budget, Finance, Financial Oversight, and Control.
The text must now be reviewed by other committees, including the Committee on Constitution and Justice and the Committee on Economy, Industry, and Commerce.
The measure includes banning advertising on uniforms, sports equipment, and various media, as well as restricting the use of athletes' images in sports betting campaigns.
