Superbet adopts Unico solution to improve user registration on its platform

In the sports betting sector, facial biometrics has proven to be the most accurate solution for validating bettors' identities. Superbet, the first sports betting platform to have a definitive license issued by the Brazilian government, has improved user registration with the technology, ensuring greater security and transparency in its operations, adopting the Unico solution for onboarding.

"Today, 90% of customers who register on our platform complete the facial biometrics and identity verification process in less than three seconds," says Patrícia Prates, Marketing Director at Superbet.

According to the executive, the tool was implemented to introduce a new flow for efficiently identifying users, enhancing security without compromising the platform experience. The project was made possible after choosing Unico as their technology partner, a leading identity validation company with extensive experience operating in sectors such as banking, fintechs, and insurance.

The initial results of this collaboration were presented at the SBC Summit Rio. Based on over 20 million identity transactions carried out by Unico in the first months of 2025 for various sports betting operators, 99% of individuals authenticated by the technology were already in the database. In other words, they are "recognized" biometrics for Unico, leading to a very fast authentication process for bettors.

Beyond the rapid processing capability of validation, another critical factor for this segment is reliability.

"Our industry is developing in Brazil, with new regulations coming into effect less than three months ago. Naturally, there are many challenges, and ensuring our consumers feel secure and can trust our brand is essential," Patrícia emphasizes.

"Unico’s solution helps us significantly because it brings valuable customer intelligence to this segment and adds credibility. It is a well-recognized solution that has already been tested in other sectors, such as banking, fintechs, and retail," she adds.

With 24 million bettors per month, according to data from the Central Bank in 2025, innovation has become a fundamental pillar for ensuring the security and scalability of the sector.

"The law mandated the use of facial biometrics to authenticate user identities, aiming to block access to individuals legally prohibited from gambling—including minors—and combat fraud attempts," highlights Fernanda Beato, Sales Director at Unico.

"This regulation created the need for the fixed-odds betting market to find an efficient solution that guarantees security and legitimacy in processes, such as Unico’s. Our technology operates independently in the Brazilian market. We processed over 608 million transactions in 2024 and fully comply with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). This means we have a significant network effect, but we never share our database," says Fernanda.

Other benefits of facial biometrics for the industry

In addition to enhancing security and speeding up the identification and registration process, Superbet’s marketing director explains that facial biometrics has brought a highly qualified audience to the platform.

"These are individuals who understand the importance of completing and finalizing the profile verification process, which brings greater peace of mind to users and significantly reduces the risk of fraud," she highlights.

"Today, Unico represents trust and security for Superbet—both for our customers and for the company, as we rely on a partner that supports all our growth plans," concludes Patrícia.
