Online gambling boost ecosystem
The inclusion of online gambling games in the survey is unprecedented and significant: 38.2% of those interviewed said they play recreational games of this type, indicating a relevant presence in the ecosystem. Among those interviewed, 39% said they play at least once a week, while 14.2% play four or more times a week.
“Casinos and games like ‘Jogo do Tigrinho’ have made their presence felt by attracting an engaged audience, willing to spend and motivated by financial, emotional and social factors,” explains Guilherme Camargo, CEO of SX Group and coordinator of ESPM’s postgraduate program.
The data shows that at least 89% of these players spend money on these games every month, with:
- 39% spending between R$50 and R$200 (US$8.7 and US$35)
- 8.6% spending more than R$500 (US$87)
For a minority, games are a way to relax (29%) or to seek the thrill of victory (30%).
The biggest motivation, however, is always to win more money: 43.9% play for this, and 24.7% see betting on these games as “an investment to improve income.”
