Z.ro Bank launches WhatsApp bot that makes sports bets and online purchases

Authorized by the Central Bank, the fintech Z.ro Bank has created an intelligent bot that interacts via WhatsApp with those who want to buy tickets for shows and movies, make sports bets or any other operation that would take a lot of time on its own. At the end, all that will be left to do is pay the bill.

The service is currently in its implementation phase, initially focusing on the entertainment and online betting sectors. Thanks to generative artificial intelligence, the bot searches for tickets on purchasing websites for shows and movie screenings and completes the transaction, eliminating the hassle of endless searching and wasted time.

In this first phase, users will receive recommendations and be able to purchase tickets for concerts and sporting events. In the second phase, betting customers will be able to place wagers without accessing the website.

“This functionality will benefit both ends of the process, as both the businesses we serve and their end customers expect to complete their transactions with as few clicks as possible,” says Edisio Pereira Neto, CEO of Z.ro Bank.

In practice, Z.ro Bot will function as a virtual assistant, allowing brands to personalize its name when interacting with their customers.

For betting platforms, once logged into the site, users will be able to click a button enabling betting directly via WhatsApp.

"The system will then verify whether the user's WhatsApp number matches the one registered with the betting site. Once confirmed, they can conveniently place bets through this additional channel."

As the technology provider, Z.ro Bank is also responsible for payment processing.

The bot is programmed to provide real-time information on all available games and odds based on the bettor's commands. Additionally, users can receive their payment slips (boletos) directly through the app.

Other applications

The same approach can be adapted for other industries. In the entertainment and events sector, users can ask questions like "What concert tickets are available in São Paulo this weekend?" or "How much does a ticket for my team's match cost?" and receive AI-generated responses leading up to the checkout phase.

According to data from the German firm Statista, WhatsApp has 147 million users in Brazil. Another survey by Opinion Box revealed that 62% of Brazilians have made purchases via the app.

Founded in Recife’s Porto Digital and accelerated by Endeavor, Itaú, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Z.ro Bank secured its payment institution license from the Central Bank of Brazil last year. Currently, more than 20 regulated sports betting companies rely on the fintech to process their payments.
