What are YouTubers prohibited from advertising on the platform?
As YouTube explains on its support page, YouTubers will not be able to disclose URLs of prohibited betting and gambling games, embed links in images or texts, publish artwork of the services (including logos) or talk about them in videos. Before this update, the platform already prohibited means of directing viewers to betting houses or casinos.
In the post, YouTube reinforces that it removes videos about casinos that guarantee payment or returns, regardless of whether the platform is authorized to advertise. The Ministry of Finance has a list of online 'Bets' - as operators of sport betting are called - and online casinos authorized in Brazil, which serves as a basis for the services authorized by Google in the country.
The company also explains that posts with promotions of online casino websites or applications will not be displayed to users under 18 years of age or without a login to the app.
"We believe these changes are a necessary step to protect our community, especially younger viewers," says YouTube in the announcement.
