The competition was tight until the end of the counting and Rosas de Ouro was crowned champion in the tiebreaker in the Evolution category. This is the eighth achievement of the samba school from the Brasilândia neighborhood, in the North Zone of the capital of São Paulo, after a 15-year drought.
The parade covered the history of games throughout the centuries, highlighting their influence on humanity. The presentation began at dawn on Saturday (1st) and featured the neon costume of drum queen Ana Beatriz Godoi, a section with members dressed as Pac Man, and a balloon with the face of the character from the famous electronic game. An entire section dressed as playing cards and the choreographed drum section were also a hit.
"It's through hard work and persistence that we get there. Because Rosas de Ouro is a great samba school in São Paulo. Very traditional," said president Angelina Basílio.
The front commission joked with the other schools that competed in the Special Group: bets made on a slot machine always led to Rosas de Ouro winning.
With a gaming theme, the first section was made up of people dressed as playing cards. And the opening float was the 'Grande Cassino Brasilândia', in homage to the school's origins.
The successful Rosas de Ouro project was supported by the Institute of Development, Tourism, Culture, Sports and Environment (IDT-Cema) and sponsored by the H2 Group, which operates a poker club in São Paulo and owns the H2bet and SeuBet brands.
