GMB - After a tumultuous period at the beginning of the regulated market, how is Superbet's work and approach to its entire range of customers going?
Alexandre Fonseca - So far, very well. I think that, as you said, we had a difficult time during the migration. I think it was a learning experience for everyone, including the customer, who had to adapt to the new KYC tools that we had to implement. But I believe that we were very fortunate in choosing our partner and we were able to prosper in this market, continuing on an interesting growth curve.
The regulation is quite strict, with requirements that even exceed those of some jurisdictions. Does this bring peace of mind to the end user, as a bettor at Superbet?
Without a doubt. Superbet supports the regulated market as does the regulator, but some measures are exaggerated and need to be reviewed. They have a negative impact, especially for users who are less skilled with technology. We actively participated in the process of discussing the regulatory agenda for the next two years and we hope that the regulator accepts suggestions to improve the market.
We hope he will comply with some of them. This is the responsibility of all of us in the industry: to make the player's life easier, responsibly and efficiently. We certainly have measures that could be made more efficient and others that, if removed, would not affect the efficiency or safety of the user.
Speaking of responsibility, how has Superbet been working on the issue of Responsible Gaming?
We have launched pioneering advertising campaigns on this topic. We are about to announce a partnership with the Player Protection Institute, offering 24-hour psychological and psychiatric care for users who identify or self-declare as gambling addicts.
It is not enough to have self-exclusion tools; professional support is needed to raise awareness among users and treat them appropriately. This is essential to prevent them from continuing to play at other bookmakers.
Today, the state championships are Super. I would like you to talk about this naming rights strategy that Superbet has implemented to seek ever greater national recognition.
It was a strategy that we adopted because we knew that the market change would be important and we wanted to seek maximum awareness to increase national and regional recognition. Traditionally, the first championships to be played are the state championships and we strongly believe in regionalization, especially in a country with the continental dimensions of Brazil. We have six state championships and the Copa do Nordeste, which strengthens our regional presence and stimulates the local passion for football.
Superbet impressed the country and São Paulo fans by signing the master sponsorship contract. What's next, since the club will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary?
The sponsorship of São Paulo is a milestone and I would like to extend my congratulations to the president Júlio Casares and Eduardo Toni, the commercial director. We will announce it soon, but I am giving you the first news that we have signed a contract until 2030, celebrating the centenary of the ‘Tricolor Paulista’.
It is an honor to be by São Paulo's side for so long, showing our long-term commitment. We are the first brand in Brazil to be involved in such a long-term sponsorship. We are already in the second year of the partnership and signing for another six. In other words, we will have been with the club for eight years, which shows our intention to be partners.
I remember the first interview I did with you when I took over Superbet. You said that your job would be to make Superbet one of the three largest betting houses in Brazil. Is it almost there or is it already here?
We are currently one of the three largest bookmakers in Brazil, but our goal is to lead. We continue to invest in sponsorships, ambassadors and entertainment. We participate in events such as Rio Carnival, Rock in Rio and The Town, consolidating our presence in the entertainment industry. I can't give more details yet, but we love sponsorships and news will come soon.
