Panel highlights

Influence on operators
: Ariel Litvack discussed how Brazilian gambling regulation has led to significant operational changes. Operators now face stringent compliance requirements, including Know Your Customer (KYC), responsible gaming measures, and financial transaction protocols, which have made account opening more complex compared to other industries like digital banking.

Effect on game providers: Game providers face challenges related to the high costs of certification and the need to adapt content for the Brazilian market. Rocio Moitino emphasised the financial and logistical hurdles of aligning games with the regulatory framework, leading to some delays in game certifications and limited content availability for operators.

Impact on aggregators: Eliane Nunes explained how certification requirements for each new game launch have made the pathway from game providers to players more complex. Aggregators now navigate higher costs and operational challenges while supporting both operators and game developers to meet regulatory demands.

Consumer experience: Players benefit from safer gaming environments bolstered by responsible gaming controls. However, due to regulatory barriers, the variety of available games has reduced. While this transition may introduce obstacles for players accustomed to pre-regulation practices, it also attracts new players who value the safety and trust offered by a regulated environment.

Future look: Despite the challenges posed by regulation, panellists expressed optimism about the long-term benefits, including enhanced innovation, increased player safety, and market stability. The outlook for Brazil’s regulated iGaming market remains positive, with the potential for growth and development in the coming years.
