GMB – What did Caf bring as a novelty to BiS SiGMA Americas 2025?
Rafael Storch – Just for context: Caf is a company that has been working for many years with identity validation and user experience, mainly with large banks, fintechs, and marketplaces.
With that solid foundation, we entered the iGaming market around two years ago, initially offering more query-based solutions, and now, with regulation in place, we’re operating the full onboarding process — including selfie, document capture, and more.
We practically pivoted our product. We adapted a solution that already worked very well in other sectors to meet the specific needs of the betting market. We cut steps, simplified the flow, and made the user experience much more fluid, without compromising security.
Can you give an example of that simplification?
Of course. One of the main advancements is what we call “document treatment.” Since we’ve worked with document validation for a long time, we’re able to reuse data. For example: if a user has already registered with a Caf partner bank and wants to register with a betting operator, we can use that same document.
They just need to take a selfie, and that’s it! With that, we reduced the onboarding time from 50 seconds to about 20 seconds — a huge difference.
For the operator, this means more conversions. For the user, it’s a fast and simple experience. And of course, all this while maintaining security, since the document was already previously validated.

Are there other new developments for this semester?
Yes! A major highlight is our proprietary liveness check, which is a key part of the withdrawal process. This is a critical moment because the user wants to withdraw their money — whether it’s 1 or 10 thousand reais — and they don’t want to face obstacles.
Our liveness check is fully passive: no need to smile, blink, or move the phone. Just stay still, and the technology guarantees it’s not a fraud attempt.
None of this would be possible without artificial intelligence? What other technologies is Caf applying to fight fraud?
Exactly. AI is essential, but our differential lies in the flexibility of the platform. Caf’s solution is highly configurable. The operator can define customized flows according to their risk appetite.
We have more rigorous clients who require forensic document validation — checking for tampering, whether the images are legitimate, among other factors.
Each operator can build the flow that makes the most sense for their business, and we provide the tools to do that.

How was the event for Caf? Were you able to attract operators and potential customers?
Yes, definitely. This first quarter was a huge learning phase. We actually began operating in production and got great results. We managed, for example, to increase the average conversion rate from 60% to 75%, and some clients are reaching 80%. That shows our improvements to the flow are paying off.
Additionally, many operators are starting to understand the importance of a strong identity verification process. Small problems today can turn into big headaches in the future. We’re here to help prevent that.
And looking ahead at the sector’s future, how do you see the convergence between sports betting, iGaming, and digital entertainment?
I see it with great enthusiasm. The market is still maturing, but KYC plays a crucial role in its growth. It ensures safety, shows that the sector is serious, and helps build a positive reputation.
Today, we work with most of the top operators in Brazil — all of them very committed to compliance and best practices. In fact, they’re often more rigorous than necessary, precisely to protect the market as a whole.
User identity is a serious matter. The experience needs to be fluid, but security can’t be neglected. These two things must go hand in hand — and that’s what Caf delivers: security combined with a great user experience.
