Senate Sports Committee debates restrictions on advertising of 'Bets' this Wednesday (9)

The Senate Sports Committee (CEsp) is holding a public hearing this Wednesday (9) to discuss two bills that deal with the advertising of sports betting operators in Brazil. The meeting was requested by senators Jorge Kajuru, Carlos Portinho, Eduardo Girão and Romário. They argue that it is necessary to debate the social and economic effects of betting advertising, especially among young people and vulnerable populations.

The bills in question are Bill 2,985/2023, by senator Styvenson Valentim, and Bill 3,405/2023, by senator Eduardo Girão. Both proposals provide for changes to Law 13,756, of 2018, to impose restrictions on the advertising and marketing of 'Bets'.

Among the confirmed guests for the audience includes:

-Yane Marques, vice-president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB);

-Thiago Henrique Cunha Basílio, public defender for the state of Rio de Janeiro;

-Pietro Cardia Lorenzoni, legal director of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL);

-Christina Hajaj Gonzalez, member of the Technical Chamber of Psychiatry of the Federal Council of Medicine;

-Rodrigo Saraiva Marinho, executive director of the Instituto Livre Mercado;

-Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Superbet Brasil.

-Regis Dudena, secretary of Prizes and Bets, was invited but has not yet confirmed his presence.
