Political turmoil makes projects stay until 2017

Gaming law that would legalize games of chance in Brasil (PLS186/14) and three other technology projects with debate and voting expected for 2016, will be analyzed in the coming year because of the instability and the confusions experienced in Brazilian politics.

One of the factors that led to the vote on the projects for the coming year was the government's choice to prioritize the adoption of measures such as the imposition of a ceiling on public spending.

In addition to PLS 186/14, projects that discuss the provision of wireless internet in buses and the regulation of transport services by application increase the list of projects affected by the political moment.

The bill on the legalization of games came to a vote last December 14, but was sent to the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission at the request of parliamentarians, who claimed that there was not enough time for in-depth debates on the issue.

However, Carlos Zarattini's (PT-SP) project on transportation by means of applications was much discussed during the year, but will only be voted upon after analysis by Rodrigo Maia's special commission on transportation via applications (DEM-RJ), President of the Chamber of Deputies, which has until the end of March 2017 to complete the work.

And to close the list, bill 3743/2015, which establishes the obligation to offer WiFi in buses, trains and subway by Deputy João Daniel (PT-SE), stands in the Transport Committee has yet to be analyzed by the Committee on Justice and Citizenship before going to the vote in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies.
