President of Brazilian Deputies Chamber promises to vote for casino in November

Rodrigo Maia, President of the Brazilian Deputies Chamber, has been promising allies to include the release of gambling in November. The issue has gained momentum following the formation of a parliamentary front with 262 deputies. One of the representatives from the front, MP Nelson Marquezelli (PTB-SP) affirms that, once approved the project, it will be possible to start the construction of casinos already next year.

"Hotel chains in Guarujá, Campinas and São José do Rio Preto have already expressed interest," Marquezelli says. The parliamentary Front wants approval of the game later this year.

Leader of the Parliamentary Front for the Legalization of Gaming in Brazil recently launched, Deputy César Halum (PR-TO) talks with President of the Deputies Chamber Rodrigo Maia so to include in November the vote on PL 442/91 that aims to regulate the activity in the country, which was already approved in September 2016 in the special commission of the regulatory framework after extensive debate in public hearings.

Last week, A number of pro-gaming Brazilian legislators held the inaugural meeting of the Parliamentary Front for the Regulatory Framework of Gaming in the country. According to Halum, the meeting had the objective to "defend the legalization and regulation of gambling in Brazil.”

The front was established in September 2017, after Halum obtained the signatures of 262 of the 513 members of the Chamber of Deputies.

The Brazilian congress is currently viewing two projects to legalise gaming activities nationwide, with similar guidelines, one in Deputies and one in the Senate. In general, the idea is to allow most of the game offerings, from adopting the casino resort model, allow sports betting as well as legalising the famous Jogo do Bicho, to implement online gaming.
