"Brazil is in conditions and ready to legalize gaming"

(Exclusive GMB) - AJES Brasil is an association founded in 2016 that works for a fair legalization of gaming in te country. GMB spoke with its president, Arlindo Figueiredo, about the progress of the legalization process, its impact on the economy and the work done at AJES Brasil. 'We have struggled to show the government and the country the importance of looking at this sector that will never end, so let's legalize and adjust this immediately in the country,' he said.

How does AJES evaluate the current moment of the legalization process of gaming in the country? What has advanced and what has slowed the final approval of the law?
The process of legalization happens at a time when our country is in conditions and ready for this, the advance and awareness that the country needs legalized gaming for enrichment, taxes, the structure of jobs and help the INSS with another 500 thousand contributors at the same time. What disrupts legalization is the lack of knowledge of parliamentarians who do not know the real needs and that the real country is outside the House and the Senate and the great hypocrisies created by the lack of knowledge.

Some argue that advocates of legalizing gambling should work more directly with the population to explain the benefits that the market could bring to all. Does AJES agree with this idea? What kind of campaign could be made to achieve this outcome?
I agree on bringing knowledge to the population about the dozens of benefits that legalization will bring to the country, generating thousands of jobs that are not directly related to gaming: cooks, drivers, masons, carpenters, security guards, copyists; shows, events, tourism, multi cultures…to sum up, nothing that is evil.

The main arguments against the legalization of gambling are a possible increase in money laundering and the issue of addiction. What association can talk about these two points? Will they be considered and can they generate problems in a vote to legalize the activity?
As for money laundering, this is an absurd myth that stands in the legalization by secondary interest of the Caixa Economia and others. As for addiction is also absurd, because the addict today is hidden in the clandestine and without treatment. Legalizing, regulating we will have the addict monitored and dealt with, so this is again proof of the lack of knowledge and hypocrisy. Brazil has infinite resources of control over the taxes, the money loundering and the compulsive gambler.

What is AJES position regarding the decision of the STJ of Rio Grande do Sul regarding gaming and that will also be debated in the STF? Is it a faster route to legalization? What are the consequences?
The decision of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in my opinion, shows that some states and rulers see that the limit of legalization has isolated acts acts so that the government definitely becomes aware thatit is enough with the prohibition; ew can’t be one of the few countries with this lowered curtain.

AJES stands as a defender of small street gaming operators. What have been the actions of the association in this sense and what are the biggest benefits that these operators will have with the legalization?
As for so-called small operators, it is a big mistake. Brazil has thousands of operators across the country interacting in bars and restaurants to keep them open, because without this wedge 60% of them would be closed. We have to face the fact that out there the gaming entrepreneur generates signed employment; only the government that sells the Mega Sena with odds of 1 / 50,000,000 is correct. AJES was founded in 2016 but struggles to show the government and the country, years after the prohibition, the importance of looking at this giant sector, immense and that will never end, so let's legalize and adjust it immediately in the country.

Speaking about the future, once achieved the gaming legalization, what are the next steps that the country must take to have a strong and successful market?
In addition to casinos with giant hotel structures with investment close to 500 million dollars, bingos and br-1 bringing rich tax for security, health and sport but with seriousness and supervision. Bringing to the Union coffers US$ 6.3 billion annually. THUS, CORRUPTION AND MONEY LAUNDERING IN THIS GIANT SEGMENT WILL END.
As president of AJES Brazil, I am willing, like all of us, to have a country with immense investments in the follow-up of gaming, including state lotteries for an interaction with online games and jogo do bicho. Let our police agencies take care of what the country really needs: SECURITY. And do not apprehend those who generate jobs, thus ending the distortions between institutions and taking from our forums millions of useless processes that clog our judiciary generating millions of dollars in expenses and occupating judges and prosecutors to TO GET THE INUTILITY OF CONTRAVENTION AFTER YEARS OF PROCESSING. Anyone who does not see the benefits of legalized gambling must have a great lack of knowledge or do not want to see the truth.
