Until next December 7, the WTC Sheraton in São Paulo receives the final and decisive stage of this year's BSOP, the already famous and expected Millions. BSOP Director, Igor Federal, one of the biggest names in this sport in Brazil, talks to GMB about his expectations and highlights the important numbers surrounding the event.
"It's important to say that BSOP is the largest poker tournament in the Southern hemisphere and one of the biggest in the world. This year with the partial resumption of the economy, it guarantees US$ 3 million in prizes and expects to distribute at least twice that figure, US$ 6 million, and we are expecting about 15 thousand players during the event.”
In addition to the numbers of this edition, Federal also highlights the consolidation of the event in the calendar of São Paulo. According to him, the poker tournament has moved the economy of the city in different sectors, especially those linked to tourism.
"It is one of the events that has been consolidating in the city of São Paulo, in both sports and tourism calendar and that will attract thousands of tourists to the city, with foreign exchange in hotels, flight tickets and things like that. All those thing move the tourist and economic area of the city," says Igor Federal.
The Millions stage is the last of the BSOP season, the Brazilian poker championship. During the days are being disputed several tournaments. There will be disputes between celebrities, youtubers and, of course, the Main Event that will reveal the great champion of the stage and possibly the Brazilian champion of 2018. Igor Federal also spoke of the sport's significance of the event.
"It is a celebration of the entire poker community at the end of the year, where we will find the Brazilian champion at the end of the stage," he concluded.
